This Friday, 23rd of April is a very important traditional Catalan holiday. It is the Feast of St. George, or Sant Jordi as he is known around these parts. If you would like to learn more about how this day is celebrated, here's a link.
This year, Sant Jordi will be particularly special for me, as I will be a participating artist/author in an exhibition: the 3rd annual Barcelona "Artist Book Festival 2010: HUMAN BOOK", organized by ILDE - Barcelona Association of Book Artists and curated by Elisa Pellacani. The Human Book Festival will take place in the Plaza Sant Just, in Barcelona's Gothic quarter.
The Festival will be inaugorated at 12 noon and will carry on throughout the afternoon until 8pm.
The work of some 200 book artists will be featured, as well as presence of a number of bookmakers, book artists, and bookmaking and engraving studios from around the world. Throughout the day, there will be staged performances, story-telling, installations, demonstrations, music, a "mail-art post office" and a live radio broadcast of the Festival....!
So if you are in Barcelona this Friday, come by the Plaza Sant Just and check out all the fun!
On Monday, 26 of April to Saturday, 1 of May, the Festival will move to the Loring Art bookshop in Barcelona; from May 6th, there will be a number of works exhibited in the "Pati Llimona Civic Centre" in Barcelona.
